U.S. Personal Income Rose 0.4%; U.S. Consumer Spending Rose 0.7%

(For December 2010)

U.S. personal income rose 0.4% in December vs. 0.4% consensus and 0.3% rise in November. On y-o-y level personal income is up 3.8%.

U.S. consumer spending rose 0.7% in December vs. 0.5% consensus and 0.3% November reading (revised from 0.5%). On y-o-y level consumer spending is up 4.1%.

U.S. personal savings as a percentage of disposable income fell 0.2% to 5.3%. November reading was revised to 5.5%

Consumer spending is the bright spot of U.S. economy and it’s fueling U.S. economic growth, but if we take a broader look the imbalances that were among the causes of the recent recession are returning.
